Do people still buy bungalows?

Absolutely. The more interesting question is why they’re becoming so difficult to find.

From a buyer’s perspective, the appeal is still clear: more land, larger plots, single-level living, privacy and often more potential to extend or renovate.
From a developer’s perspective, though, the equation looks different. A bungalow can take up significantly more of a plot while delivering less internal floor space than a two-storey home. When land is expensive, that matters.
And that creates an interesting dynamic. Fewer bungalows get built. Supply stays limited. But there is still a specific group of buyers actively looking for them. That scarcity can create value.
Sometimes the opportunity in property isn’t simply about following what everyone else is building. It’s about understanding what buyers are struggling to find.
Would you pay more for a bungalow if it came with a larger plot and more future potential?
